After we landed I was anxious to see Istanbul today- I have been through the airport many times but never in the city! The first thing I saw after I picked up my suitcase  was a Burger King- kind of a let down! But it is an amazing place!  We drove for 1 1/2 hours just to cross town from the airport to my hotel!  There are 15 million people here!  Part of Istanbul is ancient, even from Roman times but the majority is very modern with extraordinary skyscapers all over!

When we got to the hotel I had just enough time to shower and then our friends came by and we walked to a nice steakhouse, where three couples were waiting!

They are all refugees applying for Turkish citizenship, which only takes three months here, but meanwhile they haven't been working, so I asked to take care of the check for dinner but they were vehemently opposed, and just took over! Amazing love...

We had a miraculous time at dinner!  The first half hour was renewing our years of friendship and stories but then it evolved into God's love, purpose, hearing God's voice, and God's dreams for our lives!

Our main host  tried to talk a couple times during the discussion but the Spirit just overwhelmed him!

It looks like we have jumped out of the gate on a sprint, but a very tender beginning!

They all want to meet again in the morning for breakfast!

Speaking of which, right near the hotel is a Krispy Kreme shop! I don't know that I'll go there but, God knows how to tickle our hearts!

I started to fall asleep on my knees, so I had better crawl the rest of the way up into bed...but what a wonderful, exciting start!

I am grateful for all of the fasters and prayers who are breaking spiritual ground each day before it has even begun!

Love in Christ, jerod/ jerry

[Lord God, thank You for Pastor Jerry’s safe and on-time arrival in this historic cross-road of humanity. Please give him rest and connection with the others he’s aiming to meet. Please help those with risky journeys. Give them strength and guide their discussions. Please grant them a Krispy Kreme, so to speak, of Your presence. Amen]

I am thrilled to hear there is a Krispy Kreme close by. This bodes well for the whole trip!!!! Eat a couple for me. Although, I prefer Top Hat donuts (maple bars especially) over Krispy Kreme. Take care my friend.
