First day in Nairobi...

We arrived at Enos' house about 7 am this morning, exhausted!  I'd come from a Youth Retreat at the Dead Sea in Israel, that started early every day and only once did I finish before 1am.  I am not sure that "young in heart" is the same as young in body!?  But a great time with wonderful friends!! And, Juan Carlos had been flying for almost 24 hours before we finally met up in Nairobi!  I had the advantage of getting adjusted to the time zone on this side of the World but JC had a long day along with an upside down time zone!  But he is a tremendous brother and doing great!  

We slept about 4 hours after we got in and then cleaned up and had some brunch, changed some dollars into Kenyan Shillings (about 102 to $1) and went to the giraffe sanctuary- a tradition for first timers!    

Juan Carlos wrote to me the first thing this morning and said, "I am not sure what the plan is for today?" And I wrote back, 'We'll know as soon as God the Holy Spirit tells us!"...so here we go!!  

We have been prayerfully chatting, catching up on the various friends and situations here and as we did, our dear Lord just naturally and graciously started giving clarity, directions and opening doors as we moved in the flow of His Spirit! This is always the most profitable way I have ever experienced!  We took Enos' family out for dinner to begin our time here and tomorrow we meet with a brother who is one of the most powerful men in the Country, immediately followed by time with our dear friends at Graceland pre-school! I am always amazed at the breadth of our Lord's movememt- from the offices of high level officials in the Land to little children who just need to be clothed, fed and loved!  And Jesus loves them all!! Treating them all the same!!  Amazing Grace...  

Just short update on a request Sue put out for prayer and even some fasting...the results from national elections were just announced this week and because so much here is tribal based, the tribes left out of power go on a rampage with violence,  murder, and more.  After the announcement of the results the protests did start but the President Elect and his wife are both very outspoken followers of Jesus Christ!  His acceptance speech was inclusive, loving, humble, promising to respect and utilize the talents and experience of all Kenyans, even the opposition, for the sake of the very best for everyone in the Country!  I know that is what they all say but he said test us, hold us accountable to what we have promised!  "We were prayed into this Presidency and by God's grace and His power we will accomplish everything He has called us to do, together!"    

I am not the only one who was touched and hopeful by this speech- the protests have stopped in just three days, and to date not one person has been hurt!     With much love in Christ,  jerry
