As our team was traveling from Lviv to Chernivtsi, they received word that the beautiful Gorkie Park in Kharkiv was bombed once again in this cruel, senseless war. (We posted about their visit there on May 2nd.)
Sometimes, this war can seem so distant to us here in the United States - but on top of all of the other horrible things that we have seen in the last 73 days, pictures like these of the bombing of this incredible Park that Jerrry and I also visited together with our friends in October, helps make it so much more real, so close and so heartbreaking...
Lord, we praise You for being all powerful. Thank you for Your plan that’s playing out.
And please end this awful war by noon today. Please keep Jerry, Mr. Carawan and the saints safe. Please bring them home tomorrow. Please heal the families who are missing members. Please provide the doctors with all they need to help the wounded. Please grant the Ukrainians and Russians peace. Please change Mr. Putin’s heart. Please help the economies and infrastructure to be rebuilt quickly. Please help us all to see that You are all powerful and have the best plan.
I pray that this Mother's Day be one of naturing, caring and loving each other the way a mother loves her child. I pray Sue, Leah and Jean have a day full of mercy, grace, faith and peace. I pray you and Rolphe have the opportunity to take a breath, find some personal time to relax and just be a couple of guys hanging out and taking it easy.
It truly is terrible. I know that the war crimes investigators are on the ground in all areas of Ukraine documenting all that is going on there. I don't know how effective it will be to prosecute the criminals but at least the world will know what has happened. The loss of life and property is immense but the breaking of one's spirit is worse. I can't imagine staying strong through all of this if you don't have faith. The only thing I can do is pray for an end to it and for all of us to repent and for those who are lost to seek Jesus.
