June 2nd- We used the morning to write e-mails, send off another blog posting and get a few minutes down in the basement to exercise a bit! At lunch time we met with Vera Kushnir- she was one of our first ministry contacts from Ukraine over 25 years ago, and she continues to be one of our dearest friends! She has a very compromised immune system and has had a really difficult and lonely time of isolation during this pandemic for over a year now! God, as has been the case throughout this trip, showed up for a very significant time together that I believe will lead to much healing in her own life but also her larger family as well! Bless His Holy, wonderful Name!!
Then we packed up and headed up into the famous Carpathian mountains to speak at a dear friend's camp. They only had about a dozen kids and maybe about the same number of parents and workers but they come from all over the surrounding hills. There is very little for kids to do there except to work with their parents just surviving and rarely a chance for young people to get together just to socialize and play! They were so appreciative of our efforts to drive that far away and the things from God's Word that were eagerly received! At dinner several kids prayed and poured out their hearts to God with great passion! Is there anything more wonderful than seeing kids get excited about a relationship with Jesus Christ?! We were stunned to see one of the younger girls wearing a WSU sweatshirt! As Doug Burleigh says, "We weren't at the end of the World but it was only 1/2 mile from it!":) And yet, we are all still connected...
What beautiful young faces. Kids and young adults praising their God and Creator. God bless you all, with prayers and blessings going up more than you probably know.
Just me again - I thought you would like a little update on Larry and Marie. As you know, Larry had a heart over a week ago. Once we knew about it, Judy offered for the Internal Care team to start a meal chain and Marie said no. But Karen Cole convinced her to change her mind so we got a chain started. I dropped off a couple of meals yesterday and it was such a blessing to me. They, Marie in particular, was so thankful to receive it and it just set my heart aglow to be able to do something that is so insignificant to me yet of such a magnitude to the person receiving it. This must be how you feel all the time - wow - You ARE God's favorite....I knew it all along. Anyway-we have meals going out to them starting Monday and ending on Wednesday the 16th. Not every day but about every couple of days. Al Barronian has mowed their lawn this week and I heard rumors that he is going back next week to mow again. So, in closing, I believe the Jones are being taken care of until you get back home and you can go say hi to him. Love you guys and I'll talk to you soon. Anita
The Carpathians are supposed to be some of the most impressive and beautiful mountains in the world. It must have been so exciting to see a place with so much history attached to it. I am going to send a U 0f M (University of Montana) sweatshirt with you next year to give to someone. In fact, I think we should do that as a new little tradition, lol. Can't wait to hear what's on the agenda for tomorrow. Love you guys.
